Overall Score:
Most agencies require a MINIMUM Overall score of 70 on the entrance examination to be considered eligible for employment. If your Overall score is less than 70, you probably will not pass the entrance examination. Remember, higher scores will generally place you closer to the top of the eligibility list, so if you have a low passing score (i.e., 70-80) you should consider working to improve your score to increase your chances of being hired.
Reading Comprehension:
This section of the examination measures your ability to understand what you read. Sometimes agencies will require that you pass EACH section of the exam in order to be considered eligible for employment. If your Reading Comprehension score is less than 70, you may not pass the entrance examination. Low scores on this section can be improved by using study guides, reading the newspaper every day, reading books and getting tutoring in this area.
Grammar & Writing:
This section of the examination measures your writing ability and your ability to use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling. Sometimes agencies will require that you pass EACH section of the exam in order to be considered eligible for employment. If your Grammar & Writing score is less than 70, you may not pass the entrance examination. Low scores on this section can be improved by using study guides and high school grammar and writing textbooks and by getting tutoring in this area.
Mathematics:
This section of the examination measures your basic arithmetic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Sometimes agencies will require that you pass EACH section of the exam in order to be considered eligible for employment. If your Mathematics score is less than 70, you may not pass the entrance examination. Low scores on this section can be improved by using study guides and high school Mathematics textbooks and by getting tutoring in this area.
Low scores on any section of this examination indicate that additional training is needed if you are serious about your desire to obtain employment in the criminal justice field. This field is very competitive and getting these jobs requires some extra effort on your part. If you did very well on this exam, congratulations! If you did poorly, now is the time to improve your skills!!
Good Luck in your Career!!
