Recruitment Tools
Successful recruiting entails targeting job candidates and knowing how to best reach these individuals. PSR provides you with tools to make this process easier. Using our internet-based job application system, you can learn the specific geography of your candidate pool, identify advertising sources that are most successful, analyze attrition rates and identify causes of attrition. We will also enable you to start involving your front-line personnel in simple recruiting functions. Let us streamline and improve your recruiting efforts!

Advertising Services
We will work with you to determine your target audience and design your job advertisement. We will then place your advertisement in news media, online job listings and criminal justice/fire science college job boards. We will also place a free ad on our internet-based job-listings database, which is viewed by hundreds of local candidates. Leverage our expertise in helping you reach out to a diverse and qualified applicant pool.

Application Services
PSR has an internet-based job application system that efficiently and effectively processes your candidates and verifies minimum job qualifications. We collect all necessary job information, forms and records and submit them to you electronically, or if you prefer, in neatly organized files. All candidate inquiries, application paperwork and administrative details will be handled by PSR. You will not be bogged down by this labor-intensive process.

Testing Coordination
We will work with you to identify the most efficient system for processing candidates through job orientations, written examinations and physical ability testing. Let our team take control and make your testing process a success.

Written Exam Administration
PSR provides and administers state-of-the-art, nationally recognized law enforcement and fire service entry-level examinations to ensure that your candidates possess requisite cognitive abilities and behavioral attributes. The National Criminal Justice Officer Selection Inventory™ (NCJOSI™) has been spotlighted by Law and Order magazine as a superior entry-level tool. The National Firefighter Selection Inventory™ (NFSI™) was recently identified by a respected independent research firm as the best entry-level firefighter exam on the market.

Our exams are offered in traditional paper-and-pencil formats, but for those agencies that seek to move to a continual, ongoing testing process, we offer an internet-based testing alternative. All of our exams can be administered on demand via computers with high-speed internet connections and scored immediately. The testing system of the future is available today!

Physical Ability Testing
Let us administer your physical fitness or physical ability test. I/O Solutions has developed law enforcement and fire service physical ability tests for some of the largest agencies in the country. By working with PSR, you can leverage the experience of I/O Solutions to design a locally valid physical ability testing program for your agency.

Oral Interview Services
Our secondary selection procedures help you choose only the very best individuals in the candidate pool. We develop oral interviews specific to your agency needs and train your staff to conduct them, ensuring interviews are relevant, job-related and highly predictive of a candidate’s success on the job.

Psychological Evaluations
Our in-depth psychological evaluations last about four (4) hours each and examine the candidates’ suitability for a career in public safety. Specifically, we look at the following job-related aspects of their psychological profile:

  • Ability to maintain self-control under stressful situations
  • Flexibility
  • Aptitude for reasoning and solving problems
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Coworker relations and diversity issues
  • Motivation and preparation for a law enforcement/fire service career
  • Communication skills
  • Additional factors as determined through the interview and assessment process
We also conduct background checks and polygraph examinations of final employment candidates.
